Frequently Asked Questions

How is a hostel different than a Bed & Breakfast or motel?

Hostels, such as the Bridge Street Inn, can be very similar to Bed & Breakfast Inns. Yet unlike B&Bs, we
  • have a kitchen so guests can use to prepare their own meals. We do not prepare meals for guests.
  • offer complementary tea all day and coffee in the mornings.
  • offer dorm beds in addition to private rooms, as an inexpensive accommodation option for solo travelers.
  • place an emphasis on shared space, so travelers can interact with other travelers and staff.
  • have mostly SHARED bathrooms that are not attached to rooms.
  • do NOT have televisions.
  • offer free wireless for your own devices.

European style Inns & hostels, such as the Bridge Street Inn, attract an international crowd who are often on the road for months at a time and seek affordable, charming accommodation but not luxurious services.

Can I access my room during the day from 10:30 to 5pm if I stay more than one night?

Guests have access to their rooms, but during cleaning, it can be loud so we encourage guests to be out enjoying the local scenery. The living room social area and kitchen are not available during the day to give our staff time to clean. We are a small family business and are not always available during the daytime. Also, we cater to travelers who want to be out discovering our beautiful coastline during the day. If you are uncomfortable with limited access, please consider a whole house rental (See more on house rental page) or other local options.

Why are your rooms so much less expensive?

We offer only basic accommodations; bathrooms are shared; coffee/oatmeal breakfast; check-in only after 5pm; no private televisions or phones; small cozy rooms; No daily room service; mid-day house closure. We encourage guests to be out of the house during the day. There is plenty to keep you busy and having fun in Cambria, just ask our staff.

Who wouldn't enjoy staying here?

If you want to get away from people and have your own private space (honeymooner, anniversary, romantic weekenders) this is probably not the place for you. Further, if you expect daily service like housekeeping, full breakfast, or mid-day naps in your room, please see the visit the Cambria Chamber of Commerce website to find one of the other excellent inns nearby.

How far is the beach from the Inn?

Moonstone Beach is a 2 mile stretch of sandy beach, which is just over one mile from us. It is about a 25 minute walk, or 5 minutes by car.
